You need the following things if you’re going to install Windows 8 successfully.
- Internet connectivity.
- An admin account on the machine you’re installing on.
- Input setup, such as a keyboard and mouse. If you don’t have these, get something similar.
- 2GB of RAM.
- 30 GB of hard disk space if this is your fist time installing Windows. If you’re upgrading an existing version, you’ll need around 40 GB of space.

- Windows Vista: Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate, SP1. Requires Boot Camp 3 or higher.
- Windows 7: Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate. Requires Boot Camp 4 or higher.
- Windows 8: Windows 8 or 8.1, Windows 8 or 8.1 Pro. Requires Boot Camp 5.1.
